Name: Patlabor
Author/Vendor: Ma-Ba
Released: 1992
Type: RPG
Language: Japanese
Premise: A new millenium has its own challenges for humanity. While new technologies will become available, man's baser instincts will remain with him. Those who prefer to live in darkness will adapt these new technologies to suit their needs, and it remains one of the greatest challenges of law enforcement to adapt with the changing times. In the not-so-distant future, criminals have taken to oversized mecha and power suits to execute their many crimes. Enter the Patlabor Unit - Tokyo's Mobile Suit Police Force - a new type of police unit with the training and technology to meet this rising threat.
Impressions: Aaahh, PATLABOR...that name stirs so many fond anime memories. Great OAV series, great game - even though the graphics sadly show their age. A word of advice, though. If you don't know Japanese, or don't have the subbed or dubbed videos by Manga Entertainment, then you're going to be hopelessly lost and will get bored quick. An excellent mid-level RPG that is in desperate need of an English patch.
