Finally, a word concerning 486 and 586 based systems for those of you who are still using them. Your only real choice for Genesis emulation is Genecyst, for obvious reasons - you don't have enough horsepower for full Genesis speed. I successfully set up Genecyst v0.32 on several of these systems during the course of 1998 and got halfway decent performance out of them. You'll have to tinker with the settings, but the best thing to do is TURN THE SOUND OFF. If you just gotta have it, then set it as low as possible without the emulator throwing squeals and static back at you. Sound settings of 8192/128 seem to work best on 486DX4-100s; you can fudge it a bit higher on 586 systems. Sardu doesn't recommend using Genecyst X on the older systems because of the upgraded sound engine. Also, you can forget about using KGen - it'll run, but VERY slowly. Don't even try Genesis emulation on anything less than a 486DX4-100.
